The ADO A20 is an electric folding bike that we had the chance to test. It’s a new model from the ADO brand (A Dece Oasis). It offers a 350 W motor, good range, and a maximum speed of 35 km/h.
In the editorial office, we tested it thoroughly and have been using it for several weeks already. We’ll share our experience from using it so you’ll know its real-world range, its strengths, and also its downsides.

Package contents
The ADO A20 bike is delivered in a cardboard box with basic information about its features and parameters. Unfortunately, this box isn’t protected by any additional outer box or foil, so in our case it was slightly deformed in a few places. The bike inside is, however, well protected, so it wasn’t damaged during shipping.
The box is fairly large and weighs almost 26 kg. Inside, the bike is already folded, and it comes with a clear instruction manual with illustrations for assembly. The entire frame is protected with foam padding, which is secured in multiple places using plastic zip ties.
That way, no metal parts rub against each other, preventing scratches on the frame. The package consists of multiple components that need to be assembled together. Inside you’ll find the main frame with wheels (folded in half), handlebars, pedals, a seat, and a kickstand. As for accessories, in separate boxes or wrapped in film, we received a small pump, a smartphone stand, and the necessary screws along with the required keys.
So the package includes everything you need for assembly.
First impressions: build quality and assembling the bike
At first glance, the bike looks very high quality and sturdy. We also rate the design positively everything is neatly finished in black. Right after unboxing, we started the assembly, which was helped by the included manual. It also includes illustrations, so the whole process seems straightforward.
In the first step, we connected the frame at the joint where the battery connects with the connectors. Here we were slightly disappointed, because the individual pins don’t fit perfectly together, so to assemble the frame we had to gently lift the battery by pushing it from underneath at the spot where the key is inserted into the battery. Then the connection is secured with a locking mechanism in the form of a small lever.
The next step was attaching the handlebars. That was easy. Just insert the handlebar tube into place according to the markings on the individual parts and secure it with the included screw. The handlebar tilt can be adjusted to your preferences. Simply unlock the lever in the middle of the handlebars and set the handlebar angle the way you want. There’s also an adjustable handlebar height.
The seat is inserted and secured in the same way as you’re used to with regular bikes. One of the final steps is attaching the folding pedals, which are screwed in in the correct direction – the left pedal against the direction of the clock hands, and the right pedal in the direction of the clock hands.
The last step was to secure the stand to the rear part using a pair of screws. The problem was that the threads on the frame are slightly larger than the screws, so you need to secure the screws from the opposite side with nuts, which we didn’t find in the package. So we had to buy the nuts separately.
We managed to complete the whole assembly process very quickly, and if it weren’t for the minor drawbacks mentioned, everything would have been perfectly easy and even faster. Right after assembling, the bike was ready to ride, and the battery was charged to approximately 70 %. The smartphone holder is plastic, but with the included rubber band it keeps the smartphone in place. That said, we personally prefer metal holders—they provide a better grip.
Wheels, brakes, and other components
Since it’s a folding bike, its dimensions are adapted accordingly. The wheels are 20 x 1.95 ” and the tires are reinforced, so they should be more durable. The tread is also sufficient for lighter off-road riding, and the bike falls into the cross-country category. Fenders front and rear are included as well, but after a few rides you’ll need to tighten them slightly.
The ADO A20 comes with classic mechanical disc brakes with a cable—no hydraulic system—but the control is easy and precise. The rotors have a diameter of 160 mm. The motor is located in the rear wheel, and the bike’s maximum load is 120 kg.
In the middle section there’s only one sprocket with no derailleur, but in the rear you get a derailleur with 7 speeds. It works flawlessly, and it’s controlled using a shifter and a button on the handlebars—made by Shimano.
The bike is suspended. In front, there’s a standard fork, but it has a rather low travel, so for larger curbs or potholes it may not be enough, and occasionally you’ll hear a knocking sound when the fork hits its limits. The plus side is the suspended seat, which is very simple but effective. It works on a similar principle to the front fork.
Up front, you’ll also find active LED lighting that turns on with a button on the handlebars, but at the back there’s only a red reflector. It’s a shame the manufacturer didn’t include standard LED lighting on the rear as well.
Controls and LED display
The electric bike is turned on using a button next to the LED display mounted on the handlebars. To switch it on, you need to insert the key at the bottom part of the battery and turn it by 45°. If you want to park the bike somewhere, simply turn the key back to remove it, which locks the battery.
The display has a diagonal size of about 2.4″ and it’s backlit. Its visibility is sufficient even in direct sunlight. The main feature of the display is showing the current speed in km/h. Besides speed, it also shows other useful data, such as the distance traveled since the last start, total mileage, the time of the current ride, battery status, and the current mode. The battery status is shown only with an indicator with five segments, but we’d rather have a percentage display.
There are 4 modes, numbered (0 – 3), switched with the + and - buttons. The first mode is without electric drive, the second provides only a slight assist from the motor while you pedal. The throttle is added using a rotating selector on the right side, which is part of the right-hand grip. The interesting higher modes are – 2 and 3, where the bike runs on electricity even without pedaling. Just give it a bit of a push at the start, and then you only need to keep adding throttle. Mode 2 allows you to reach a maximum speed of around 20 km/h, and the last mode is set to 25 km/h.
However, the maximum speed can be increased up to 35 km/h in a special mode that you can access by pressing the + and – buttons at the same time for a few seconds. Then, using the power-off button, you switch to P08 mode, where you set the maximum speed. With the + button, we increased it to 35 km/h. So it’s not any kind of modification that would void the warranty, since this speed increase is presented by the manufacturer itself.
Next to the display, you’ll also find controls for the front light and the horn. Beside it there is a USB port, so you can charge your smartphone while riding the bike. It’s an interesting feature, but we recommend buying a better smartphone holder than the one included in the package.
Riding comfort and our impressions
Riding the ADO A20 electric bike feels quite pleasant and comfortable. The suspension is enough for riding in the city or on light off-road. Adjusting the seat and handlebar height is also sufficient. It’s a bit worse at speeds of 35 km/h, where the ride is no longer very comfortable—especially if you often hit potholes on broken sidewalks. That’s why we got the best experience on regular roads and bike paths.
As we mentioned above, the front fork lift isn’t the best, so on rougher terrain the front wheel often hits its limits and, when pushed fully down, touches the fender. This causes unpleasant noises and vibrations that travel up to the handlebars. However, the bike isn’t intended for rougher terrain.
Another drawback that people with bigger hands may notice is the placement of the plastic part with buttons for controlling the LED light and the horn. It’s positioned very close to the left grip, so sometimes we ended up bumping into that area with our left thumb when riding over uneven spots, which led to minor scuffs.
The horn is loud enough, and we recommend using it responsibly and considerately, especially towards pedestrians. If you’re approaching someone from behind and use this horn close to people, you can easily startle them, because it’s genuinely very loud.
Decent range on a single charge
When it comes to range, the manufacturer states a maximum range of 80 km. However, it doesn’t say under what conditions that range was measured. We tested the bike with a rider who is 185 cm tall and weighs 78 kg. We tested the range first at the maximum speed of 25 km/h, because that speed is enough for many people. We rode the bike around the city—most of the time on flat roads or on only gentle hills.
We used only the electric drive, without any additional assistance from the pedals, and overall we achieved a range of 36.2 km. During this measurement, we also turned on activity tracking in the smartphone, which measured the ride length as 34.4 km. Since the bike’s display doesn’t show the battery percentage, we rode until the battery was completely drained, when all the segments in the battery icon disappeared.
For the second test of maximum range on a single charge, we performed it after unlocking the maximum speed to 35 km/h. Again, we turned on activity tracking in the smartphone and rode using only electric power. When the battery ran out, the bike’s display showed a reading of 31.1 km. The smartphone app measured 29.61 km.
In both tests we rode almost the same route, and at 35 km/h the maximum range dropped by only 5 km. The range of 80 km stated by the manufacturer—without pedal assistance—is therefore naturally not achievable, although this was to be expected.
Charging the battery
ADO A20 has 36V 10.4 Ah battery inside the bike frame. The battery is removable—you can charge it in the bike or charge it separately after taking it out. The charging connector is located in the frame on the opposite side of the safety lever that unlocks the folding mechanism. Here we were missing a cap for the charging port, so dirt can easily get inside.
Since the bike has an IPX5 certification, it should be resistant to splashing water. That’s why we expected the charging port to be sealed. The included charger has output power of 84W, voltage of 42V, and charging current of 2 A. Charging from fully empty to full takes almost 6 hours.
ADO A20: Final assessment
ADO A20 is a very interesting folding electric bike. We enjoyed riding it—it was pleasant and comfortable. The seat suspension is a great plus that adds to ride comfort. The bike is an ideal companion for getting around the city, but it can also handle lighter terrain like forest and field roads.
We appreciate the option to increase the maximum speed to 35 km/h and the good range on a single charge. The main downside is a not entirely perfect folding system and the low-quality mounting of the fenders.
