Design and build

Let’s go straight to the design itself and the tangible build quality, because this important category is where the OPPO Find N6 absolutely excels and fully showcases the engineering prowess that puts the entire established competition to shame. When you hold this phone closed, its exceptionally compact and well-thought-out dimensions of 159.9 x 74.1 x 8.9 mm give you an instant feeling that you’re holding a completely standard, top-tier flagship-class smartphone.

The outer display is just wide enough and features an ideal aspect ratio. In your hand, it feels like any other typical mobile phone, and when we handed this device to someone who didn’t know it was a “foldable,” they didn’t notice even after a few moments without our prompting. That’s what precise craftsmanship looks like.

Once you open the OPPO Find N6, it unfolds into an incredibly thin profile with a total thickness of only 4.2 mm. It’s so thin that we’re amazed the manufacturer managed to fit such a huge battery here, and on top of that, a bulky camera module. The overall device weight, meanwhile, tops out at a very comfortable and acceptable 225 g, so your wrist won’t feel burdened or get tired even during longer gaming sessions.

The device doesn’t feel bulky at all and sits perfectly balanced in your hand. The sturdy build is based on an extremely durable series 7000 aircraft-grade aluminum frame and on innovative hinges made from a titanium alloy. Opening is incredibly smooth, with ideal linear resistance and perfectly quiet operation. On the body, you’ll also find a physical hardware slider—so-called Snap Key.

In our newsroom, we very cleverly mapped this button in the rich system settings to quickly turn the back battery on and off—something that proved to be a very practical feature at night when searching for your keys. Alternatively, it’s also possible to assign a shortcut for turning the LED flash on by typing the letter “V” on the off display.

However, a huge advantage over many direct competitors is its no-compromise durability certification at IP58 and IP59. This extreme certification ensures the phone should survive a direct hit from high-pressure streams of hot water without any lasting damage. It’s an industrial protection level that, until recently, even the toughest traditional outdoor flagship phones didn’t have—let alone such fragile foldable devices full of moving parts.

The stereo speakers output from the top and bottom, and given the type of construction, their quality is fully acceptable. Don’t expect deep bass, but the volume is more than sufficient. In the power button on the right side of the smartphone, there’s an integrated fingerprint reader that’s extremely fast and very reliable. In our view, it’s an increasingly better alternative compared to some optical scanners built under the display.

Displays and an invisible crease

The outer LTPO OLED display has a very pleasant and practical diagonal of 6.62 inches, perfectly crisp resolution of 1140 x 2616 px, and special nano-crystal glass that protects it from scratches and drops. This panel delivers smooth 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, full support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ technologies, and a maximum brightness that can reach up to an insane 3600 nits at peak.

Working on it feels as comfortable as on any other top-tier, non-folding smartphone. You won’t have to make absolutely any compromises in typing speed, and you won’t be bothered by any oddly cropped apps. But the real visual spectacle starts only once you fully unfold the device. A majestic 8.12-inch display appears in front of you, with a resolution of 2248 x 2480 px, covering almost 91% of the front inner area.

And what about that unpopular crease in the middle of the display? OPPO calls this approach Zero-Feel crease, and after two weeks of intensive testing we have to admit, with humility, that they’ve done truly magical work. When you run your finger across the unfolded display, the crease is practically unnoticeable. Visually, it’s only noticeable if you look at an off screen from a specific, sharper angle of light.

When viewed straight on and during everyday use, it completely disappears, and your brain starts ignoring it. The enormous surface area of this inner screen makes a huge difference and has an immeasurable real-life potential, which we verified through tough, hands-on practice. In our attached screenshots from gaming, you can see a scenario where we played, for example, the strategy game Teamfight Tactics (TFT) on the phone.

We switched between the game seamlessly in split-screen mode, with an open web browser showing Mobalytics move ideas/tips. Just as importantly, the inner display proved invaluable for navigating in the Google Maps app.

When we were wandering around Košice on foot looking for a place to grab a snack, or when we were planning our bike route, having such a wide and clear map view with all the surrounding points constantly in front of us is simply an invaluable feature. Sure, all of that can also be done on the traditional outer display, but this inner foldable panel gives it a whole new dimension. Literally.

Performance and limits of the thin body

At the heart of the OPPO Find N6 is the latest, extremely powerful flagship chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The specific feature of this particular implementation is that after long testing, OPPO decided to use a specially tuned 7-core version of this processor instead of the standard 8-core one. This tactical move was made with a clear goal: better and more efficient heat management in such an ultra-thin chassis. And the reason for it is crystal clear to us.

During everyday tasks, the device stays pleasantly cool, and synthetic benchmark tests still send the numbers soaring into the sky. In the AnTuTu Benchmark v11 test, we reached fantastic scores consistently around 3,347,548 points. In the Geekbench 6 test, the chip hit 3362 points in the single-core run and an excellent 8588 points in the multi-core test.

You get 16 GB of fast RAM LPDDR5X and exceptionally quick UFS 4.1 storage. However, during our relentless testing of raw performance, we also hit a moment where physics can’t be fooled—inside this 4.2 mm thin body. In the demanding test 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, the phone delivered an excellent score of 4093 points, comfortably beating the vast majority of the market.

Short-term performance is absolutely brutal. But a major turning point comes during long-term, extreme synthetic load. When we tried to run the demanding 20-minute 3DMark Stress Test, the benchmark crashed after a certain time and an error message appeared saying the test was canceled. The system wouldn’t let the hardware continue so it could physically protect it from getting baked.

Along with that, the overlay threw up clear security notifications right on the desktop, alerting us that the phone was too hot. While charging, we couldn’t even use a personal hotspot—it simply turned off after just a few minutes. Even though the device wasn’t hot to the touch, the power management system called it differently.

This aggressive temperature management clearly shows that while the processor easily handles any standard game for hours, if you subject it to synthetic and unnatural stress in benchmarks, the system will hard-disable secondary functions (like the LED flash) and crash the app rather than risk damage to the thin internal components. For a regular user, this isn’t a real-world problem, but it’s something that would be good to optimize even further in the future.

Operating system and graphical overlay

Let’s move on to the user interface itself. OPPO Find N6 runs on the Android 16 operating system with an excellent graphical overlay ColorOS 16. Right now, this overlay is among the absolute smoothest and fastest on the market. The system is packed with small handy features. OPPO has integrated a specialized menu called Functions of Foldable Devices, where you’ll find detailed customization options for both displays.

Here, for example, you can manually adjust the display size and set how specific apps should appear on the inner screen—while you can force them to show full-screen. Multitasking here is taken to an absolute, flawless extreme. You activate split view in a super intuitive way—just swipe down from the top area with two fingers, and the screen splits into two halves.

The system also supports so-called Dual Windows, allowing you to run something like WhatsApp in two different independent windows at the same time. For quick switching, there’s a Taskbar you can customize to a floating style. Screen switching (Continuity) is also handled brilliantly when closing—so you can precisely decide whether the app should continue or the display gets locked.

Another interesting feature is the smart side panel (Smart Sidebar), from which you can launch quick tools or use the File Dock for instant photo transfers between windows. In this review, though, we want to focus more on the gestures for screenshots. In the large menu, you’ll find options like a quick three-finger swipe down that captures the entire screen.

Even better is a specific gesture where you tap and hold with three fingers at the same time, letting you capture only an exact crop—be it a rectangle or a circle—without needing to edit. An absolute highlight in terms of privacy protection and clean aesthetics is the option in settings to enable Hide status bar and navigation bar.

Once you activate this hidden feature, all your screenshots will look absolutely clean—without anyone seeing your current remaining battery percentage, incoming notifications, the time, or the network signal. We don’t even need to mention UI optimization—that one is fantastic, and everything is extremely smooth with zero animation stutter.

Hasselblad cameras

A big chapter, one where the vast majority of foldable phones from the past used to fall flat, was the quality of the built-in cameras. OPPO Find N6 breaks that well-worn myth and brings you a camera lineup that easily competes with the best camera phones on the planet.

On the back, a massive triple-camera setup sits proudly, professionally tuned by Swedish brand Hasselblad. The main sensor offers a huge resolution of 200 MPx with a physical sensor size of 1/1.56 inch, top-tier optical image stabilization, and a wide aperture of f/1.8. This beast is paired with a 50 MPx ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, plus another high-quality 50 MPx periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

A specific color calibration by Hasselblad is clearly noticeable. Photos captured by the main sensor are packed with detail, with a great dynamic range and accurate colors enhanced by an eye-catching contrast. An advanced night mode, thanks to the enormous resolution, almost turns night into day—though that may not appeal to everyone. What’s more, as light levels drop, we can see an increase in blur due to the need for a longer shutter speed.

3-x optical zoom on the periscope sensor is then ideal for portraits that look genuinely professional, and it also works brilliantly for breathtaking macro shots. With such a massive resolution, you don’t even need to worry about going for a 6-x digital crop, because it still looks absolutely fantastic.

“Selfie” cameras are right here—two of them in total, and both offer solid resolution 20 MPx. However, if you want to take truly top-notch “selfies”, you can simply open the phone, use the premium rear cameras, and take advantage of the high-quality external display as a convenient viewfinder. So we’d reserve this functionality mainly for occasional video calls. Video recording is handled brilliantly by the phone in 4K resolution up to 120 fps, with support for Dolby Vision and the LOG format for color grading in post-production.

Battery life, charging, and connectivity

One of the absolute biggest questions with foldable smartphones has always been battery life on a single charge. OPPO managed to successfully integrate a massive, 6000 mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery into such a thin smartphone body. From our practical test over 47 hours and 21 minutes of total usage, the battery capacity dropped from 100% to just 39%—with the screen on (SOT – Screen On Time) for 3 hours and 34 minutes.

That means that even after two full days of normal use, it still had enough power for half a day more. Standby mode and software optimization for apps running in the background are handled with ease. After 1 hour and 42 minutes of watching YouTube on the large inner display, the battery indicator showed only a drop of 12%.

In another case, we used the phone for 14 hours and 36 minutes, and with the screen on for 1 hour and 38 minutes, it cost us only a measly 22% of battery capacity (a drop from 77% to 55%). Of course, we should point out that if you push the phone to its maximum limits in games and benchmarks, power consumption will logically increase.

After our demanding benchmark test combined with GPS navigation, after one day of use the battery dropped from 83% to 3%, while we achieved an SOT slightly over 3 hours. The phone supports 80 W charging with SuperVOOC, and in practice you can expect speeds like these:

The device fully supports fast 50 W wireless charging and reverse wireless power delivery. When it comes to connectivity, there are no compromises—there’s Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, an infrared port for controlling home electronics, or full NFC support for contactless payments. We were impressed by 5G connectivity, where we saw high transfer speeds often exceeding 500 MB/s, and sometimes we even hit values over the impressive 700 MB/s.

OPPO Find N6 review: Final assessment

If we had to wrap up everything we think about this review into one clear opinion, then OPPO Find N6 is right now the absolute best, most intelligent, and boldest mix of technology in the foldable smartphone segment that you can treat yourself to.

OPPO has made a phone that doesn’t have an annoying crease on the inner display, it’s dust-resistant and also handles high-pressure water, it’s so thin that you almost forget it’s a foldable—and despite that, there’s a powerful chip inside that quietly delivers the top performance for Android smartphones today. They brought professional-grade cameras and a massive battery, whose two-day battery life breaks old stereotypes built over the years.

If you’re looking for a foldable smartphone that, on the one hand, feels like any other premium flagship, and at the same time you can turn it into a mini tablet in a fraction of a second without additional compromises, OPPO Find N6 is a great investment you won’t regret.

But get your wallet ready, because the price is (as expected) high, and you’ll have to reach fairly deep. Still, given the specs and the technologies used, this phone outperforms any current competitor from the “foldable” category.
