The Chinese company Vivo is preparing its new flagship smartphone lineup labeled Vivo X80. It should offer a photographic sensor Sony IMX866, as well as a powerful processor from the MediaTek brand—specifically the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
Vivo X80: The smartphone series will also include a Sony IMX866 camera
Information leaks about the Vivo X80 smartphone series have already appeared online. Today, however, the Chinese brand made an official announcement about preparing this flagship lineup, and on this occasion we also learned more details about the camera equipment.

At least one of the Vivo X80 models will also include a main sensor labeled Sony IMX866 (RGBW), which is a direct successor to the Sony IMX766 predecessor. It will even be the first smartphone with this image sensor. The Chinese Vivo, which is part of the BBK Electronics conglomerate, will continue its collaboration with the ZEISS brand. And that is also behind the development of the camera for the X80 series.
Powerful flagship processor MediaTek Dimensity 9000
The camera in the Vivo X80 series will be able to capture more light thanks to the 1/1,49″ lens (16:11). This feature should catapult the upcoming smartphones among the top players in mobile photography in low-light conditions. The series will also include a model with the characteristic micro-gimbal for protection against shaking. It will be integrated into the rear camera module.
When we look at the entire camera setup, the Vivo X80 series will offer a main 50 MPx sensor Sony IMX866 (RGBW), complemented by a 12 MPx ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12 MPx camera for portrait photography. However, the configuration of the sensors themselves may differ on selected models, such as the Vivo X80 Pro. On the base model, a different main sensor may be used as well.

However, let’s move on to performance. The flagship model Vivo X80 Pro should also include an extremely powerful flagship processor. This should be the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, i.e., the first chip to offer the TSMC N4 manufacturing process (4 nm class, technology from TSMC). It will be a processor with 5G connectivity support, with a total score of up to 1 072 221 points in AnTuTu.
