You’ve probably already heard something about the EU amendment to the law that concerns customs clearance for goods worth under €22. The new law for cheap shipments will come into effect on 1.7.2021, which we informed you about in a comprehensive article.
Now we were looking into information regarding parcels you order earlier and that won’t arrive by this date. What will happen with them?

What about parcels ordered earlier, but not delivered by 1.7.2021?
Delivery from China, especially via sellers on AliExpress, can sometimes be quite slow. That’s why many readers ask us what will happen with parcels they order earlier, for example 1.6.2021, but by the date 1.7.2021 they haven’t been delivered yet, for example due to coronavirus-related restrictions or other factors affecting delivery times.
With this question, we contacted the Financial Administration of the Slovak Republic, from which we were informed by Maj. Mgr. Ján Mišiak:
It’s important when the shipment is submitted for customs clearance—not when it was ordered.
From this statement it follows that even parcels ordered in advance that may be delayed and enter the recipient country after 1.7.2021 must be submitted for customs clearance under the new law.
