If you tried to buy a new TicWatch in the past few months, you’ve probably run into trouble. The watches that for years were among the best picks for Wear OS with long battery life have vanished from Amazon and even from the manufacturer’s own lineup. Mobvoi never fully came out and said it, but everything points to the fact that the TicWatch era has ended. And today, something completely different takes its place.
All watches vanished from the lineup at once
The first signals came at the end of 2025. The website 9to5Google reported that TicWatch models were no longer discoverable in Amazon search, and that product pages had switched to the message “currently unavailable”. It wasn’t just one model, but the whole range at once.
Even more outspoken is the manufacturer’s own page. In Mobvoi’s main menu today, you can find treadmills and the AI recorder TicNote. The category with smartwatches has practically disappeared from there. A few old links to the TicWatch Atlas and Pro 5 Enduro are still live, but after you click to buy, you’ll be met with an error message. The last genuinely new model from the brand remains TicWatch Atlas from October 2024—the one we tested back then.
An official statement that explains nothing
Mobvoi handled the whole thing with extraordinary caution. To 9to5Google, the editorial team sent only that it has no new information about the TicWatch lineup, but that existing devices will continue receiving the “necessary support”. Not a word about a new model, not a word about an end. And that exact wording is, in practice, the worst thing you can hear.
“Essential support” doesn’t mean a new system or new features. It means security patches and fixes for the most basic things, as long as they can. For owners of a few-hundred-euro watches, it’s more like a controlled wind-down than a commitment.
Updates have been Achilles’ heel for years
This decision didn’t come out of nowhere. Mobvoi had software issues practically since the moment Google and Samsung jointly rebooted Wear OS back in 2021. TicWatch Pro 3 waited for Wear OS 3 for almost three years, and the community’s nerves were pretty bad back then. Newer models weren’t much better.
The result is that not a single TicWatch has made it to Wear OS 5, let alone six. The Atlas is still running on Wear OS 4, and Gemini has never made it into it. While the competition was selling the assistant as the season’s big headline, TicWatch just stood still. And that’s a pretty major difference for watches you buy for several years.
The community mourns mainly the second display
On the community forum r/TicWatch, after the watches vanished, a debate broke out and one theme shows up in almost every post: a dual-layer display. That’s what made TicWatch something other Wear OS watches couldn’t offer. Through the monochrome layer, during your run you could check your pace and heart rate without having to worry about the battery.
Users also admit that their departure didn’t come as a surprise. The watches had been sold for clearance prices for months; part of the community was writing about amounts well below a hundred euros. Meanwhile, there were no new announcements at all. Most of those who already had to deal with a replacement ended up with the OnePlus Watch or the Galaxy Watch, precisely because of battery life and faster updates. There are also voices saying that Mobvoi promised a software future that it never delivered.
Instead of watches, AI arrived
In the meantime, Mobvoi didn’t sit still—it shifted focus. At CES 2026, it unveiled the TicNote family: a standalone recorder, the TicNote Pods earbuds, and TicNote Watch. These are watches that start recording, speech transcription, and translation with a single tap—and send everything to the cloud service TicNote Cloud. Fitness and health are no longer the main focus here.
For fans of the original TicWatch, this is a cold shower. The new model doesn’t build on Wear OS, it lacks a second display, and instead of training features, it handles meeting notes. The company hasn’t announced the exact price or sale date yet, so it’s also unclear whether it will reach us officially at all.
Wear OS has once again shrunk
Mobvoi’s exit isn’t an isolated case. Fossil ended production of smartwatches in 2024, and TAG Heuer left Wear OS a year later. After the TicWatch, the category is left mainly with the Google Pixel Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, and OnePlus, plus models from Xiaomi, and the Oppo depending on the market.
If you still wear a TicWatch, there’s no need to panic. The watch works and has basic support promised. Just keep in mind that new OS versions won’t come. And if you’re picking a watch right now, its possible clearance price shouldn’t lure you in without knowing what you’re buying: great hardware with software that’s effectively frozen in time.
