Popular Chinese manufacturer ZTE has unveiled a limited Aerospace Edition of its flagship device with the model name ZTE Axon 40 Ultra. The specs include 18 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage, while the company has also considered security.
ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Aerospace Edition
The latest smartphone from this brand celebrates a China-piloted space launch. To clarify, China is only the third country to achieve such a feat—besides Russia and the United States.
If we look closer at this smartphone, in terms of technical specifications it’s practically identical to the top configuration of the Ultra flagship model. Just like the previous limited ZTE version, Starry Sky Edition, the new model will be available in only two memory options, but with a secondary chip for enhanced security features.
The back panel of the limited edition features a ceramic build, with this material produced and shaped via so-called nano-casting. There’s also a standout design element that on the sides resembles a space shuttle. ZTE claims the design is inspired by the light and shadow that travel through time and space.
In addition, the device also includes a dedicated security chip. We don’t know much about this component. However, it’s likely to be a security chip similar to the Titan M series chip you may know from Google Pixel devices.
Price and availability of the limited edition
The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Aerospace Edition will go on sale in two different storage configurations. These are the official China retail prices for each configuration:
- 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage for 5898 Chinese yuan (approx. 797 € / 824 USD)
- 18 GB RAM + 1 TB storage for 7698 Chinese yuan (approx. 1041 € / 1075 USD)
1 TB storage also comes with the standard version of this smartphone, however it’s combined with just 16 GB of RAM memory. The limited Aerospace Edition is available in China as part of pre-orders. Sales will kick off on December 6, 2022.
