What should you do if the system responds slowly and apps don’t run smoothly? In this guide, we’ll show you practical tips on how to fix this issue.
How to speed up Android TV and improve its performance
Many smart TVs and TV boxes on the market only have 1 GB or 2 GB RAM, which is often not enough for today’s apps. These devices with less powerful processors can be slow or prone to getting overwhelmed by memory and storage.

The solution is to adjust settings in a similar way to Android smartphones. Go to the “Settings” app and enable developer mode (Eng. “Developer Mode”). Just tap the system build a few times in the settings, and new options will appear.
Developer options: The key to speeding up your TV
Developer options can unlock more settings that improve device performance. Focus on animation settings — change their speed to 0,5x or turn them off completely. This tweak will speed up navigation in the menu.
Another useful setting is limiting the number of background processes. For devices with less RAM, you can reduce the number of tasks from five to two—this will improve performance, but at the same time apps running in the background will automatically close.
Among the developer options, you’ll also find the GPU rendering setting. If it’s disabled on your device, enabling it can help the system run more smoothly.
Try an alternative launcher and remove bloatware apps
You can also turn off content recommendations that Android TV shows. If you can’t find an option to disable it directly in settings, go to the apps section, select “Android TV Home” and choose “Uninstall all updates”. Don’t forget to disable automatic updates in the Play Store.
In the Play Store, you’ll find apps optimized for Android TV, including alternative launchers like FLauncher, which simplifies your home screen. If some preinstalled apps aren’t needed, you can stop them using “Force stop” or uninstall their updates.
These tweaks can significantly improve your Android TV user experience. Will you try them too?
