A desk job, a comfortable lifestyle, and back pain. All of this is a current problem when you sit at home or in the office for long periods. But we have a solution. An adjustable desk will help you not only to change your position while working, but also with your focus on demanding tasks. Thanks to his research, a well-known YouTuber Jirka explains things. also helped us.
Jirka explains things: Here’s how you can help yourself with a sedentary lifestyle!
An adjustable desk or changing your work environment
Do you fall into the “home office” category, or do you spend long hours in front of a computer at the office? The consequences of a sedentary lifestyle have probably already crossed your mind. As Jirka says in his video, a sedentary job can be the starting point for any number of diagnoses. It’s no wonder that, in the 21st century, experts refer to long-term sitting as “the new smoking”.
In the video, Jirka also describes a study that statistically shows that for people who sat for at least three hours, blood flow in the legs gets worse by as much as 33%. However, it’s important to note that this study focused mainly on young girls.
Apart from that, though, long-term sitting causes fat buildup, not just from the outside, but also inside the body—so-called visceral fat. This kind of lifestyle is not only unhealthy, but it also increases the risk of heart attacks or diabetes. Your spine also suffers, especially when you’re hunched over in a chair, and the spinal discs that are excessively loaded can shift out of their position.

When compared to exercise, experts say that regular 10 hours of sitting at a computer is roughly equal to about 40 minutes of physical activity in the gym. That means you should be exercising practically every day to avoid health complications.
Long-term hunching over in a chair can lead to complications with your spinal discs.
However, unhealthy sitting—or sitting for too long—doesn’t have to last forever. On our partners’ websites at Geekbuying.com, you’ll find various models of adjustable desks, such as the basic single-motor model, or a more expensive dual-motor model, which can handle a higher load. The choice is ultimately up to you.
Desks also have their height range (for example, Vevor offers from 64 cm up to 129 cm), and some models include memory buttons for setting each of the desk positions, for instance for different members of the household. Even so, even though in this case it’s only the motor part, it can handle an exceptionally high load of up to 125 kg, and it has low noise of only 50 dB.
Design is another advantage, too. You can buy the desk legs with the motor unit separately, and then order the tabletop separately according to your needs, or have it custom-made by a local carpenter. Sellers also sometimes offer great bundles of the motor unit + tabletop.

Affordable accessories won’t break your wallet
When it comes to the tools that can help you fight a sedentary lifestyle, besides a quality office chair, it’s definitely also an adjustable desk. We use one in the editorial office too, and as soon as even the slightest hint of back pain, fatigue, or loss of focus shows up while working, changing your position can significantly help.
Currently, the best value-for-money is the standing desk ACGAM JSZ-3 from the Geekbuying seller, featuring two motors—so it can handle even larger loads with ease. There are also variants with different desktop sizes.
