Last July, we finally got the HONOR 9X model from Huawei’s subsidiary company, together with its “Pro” edition. Just a few hours ago, however, we registered the launch of a new generation of the model lineup. It’s represented by the HONOR X10 smartphone.
5G connectivity even in an affordable smartphone
HONOR X10 is the first model in this lineup to support the latest 5G connectivity. As you’ve probably noticed, the device name isn’t 10X as you might expect based on the predecessors, but X10 5G.
This move can also be explained by the competing smartphones presented, like Redmi 10X 5G and Redmi 10X Pro 5G. However, when we compare the new model with its predecessor, we find that, unlike it, it offers 5G support and a larger screen without a cutout that’s distracting for some.
Then there’s the main camera with flagship-level quality, along with a larger battery that also supports fast charging. The HONOR X10 5G is made of glass. It measures 163.7 x 76.5 x 8.8 millimeters and has a slightly higher weight of 203 grams, which is understandable given the phone’s size.
HONOR X10 5G stands out in most features
Still, let’s briefly recap the HONOR 9X. It had a 6.59-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, also with no notch at all, thanks to a sliding front “selfie” camera. The X10 features a 6.63-inch IPS LCD display with a 20:9 aspect ratio.
The screen-to-front ratio is reportedly even higher. When it comes to the smartphone display, though, the biggest advantage of the new model is the higher 90 Hz refresh rate with a 180 Hz touch response.

The driving force behind the device is the new Kirin 820, which of course supports 5G networks with download speeds up to 1003 Mbps. Performance is also handled by LPDDR4X RAM, paired with internal storage of the USF 2.1 type.
A dedicated slot for an NM memory card is also included on the smartphone—something familiar from other newer releases by Huawei and HONOR. A battery with a 4300 mAh capacity takes care of battery life from a single quick charge with 22.5 W power.
The current latest Android 10 became the operating system, with the Magic UI 3.1 user interface overlay. We can thank the lack of a cutout for the motorized mechanism for the front camera with a 16 MP resolution.
Flagship-level cameras
A beautiful back is dominated by a quartet of cameras, with their main “commander” offering 40 MPx. It’s the same Sony IMX600Y sensor you’ll find in premium models, such as the HONOR V30 Pro or the foldable Huawei Mate Xs.

The second sensor is an 8 MP unit and features an ultra-wide-angle lens. There’s also a 2 MP depth-sensing module. The image processing processor is the Kirin 820 chip, identical to the one in the flagship Kirin 990 5G. The phone is also capable of recording 4K UHD video. It also doesn’t struggle with super-slow-motion recording at 960 fps.
A price that makes the phone even more interesting
Finally, we’ll mention the placement of the fingerprint scanner. Since there’s no OLED panel here, you’ll get “just” a reader on the side. However, it’s extremely fast, and the smartphone can be unlocked in just a third of a second.
As for connectivity, we can’t forget to mention dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, low-energy Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-C, and even a 3,5 mm audio jack for wired headphones. The pricing for the new HONOR X10 5G is as follows:
- 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage – 243 € / 267 $
- 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 281 € / 309 $
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 307 € / 337 $
The model will be available in Racing Blue, Light Speed Silver, Burning Power Orange, and Speed Black color options. The company will also produce customizable covers for buyers of this phone.
The first unit will be sold starting May 26 in China, and we don’t have any information yet about the model’s availability outside the domestic market. However, we hope we’ll be able to try the new device ourselves too.
