Sending photos and files between Android and Apple devices has been a hassle for years. If you had an Android phone and a MacBook at home, you’d send photos via Messenger, email, or a cable. That’s in the past now, because Google connected its Quick Share with Apple AirDrop, and support is already available on phones from Chinese brands like Oppo, vivo, OnePlus, and Honor.
In our editorial office, we use it every day on the Oppo Find X9 Pro and a MacBook—it works perfectly and natively, with no extra app needed. Your MacBook appears in the device list just like it does when sending from an iPhone. The only thing you need to do is enable AirDrop for everyone on the Mac for a short moment.
Which Oppo, vivo, OnePlus, and Honor phones support AirDrop
Google introduced the feature on Pixel phones, then Samsung added it as well—and in March 2026 Oppo announced that it developed it together with Google and MediaTek for the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. We wrote about support back then. According to Google’s June 2026 list, these Chinese-brand phones have it:
- Oppo: Find X9, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s and the foldable Find N6, later also the Find X8 series
- vivo: X300, X300 Pro and X300 Ultra
- OnePlus: OnePlus 15
- Honor: the foldable Magic V6, later also Magic8 Pro
- Xiaomi: 17T Pro
For the models on the list, we also have coupon articles—just click the phone name. Besides those, they also have them for newer Pixel models and Samsung Galaxy S and Z series. Google keeps expanding the list, so if your phone isn’t on it yet, it’s worth checking system updates. Newer models like Find X10 or OnePlus 16 weren’t in the June list yet, because they didn’t exist at that time.
How to send a file from Oppo to a MacBook or iPhone
The whole process takes just a few seconds. On the Apple side, you need to enable that everyone can find you, because Android isn’t in Apple account contacts.
- On your MacBook, open Control Center or Finder, click AirDrop, and set visibility to Everyone for 10 minutes. On iPhone, you’ll find it in Control Center after pressing and holding the tile with network options.
- On your Oppo phone, open the photo or file and tap Share. Quick Share will automatically remind you that the other person needs to have AirDrop set to Everyone for 10 minutes.
- Select Quick Share and, in the nearby device list, tap your MacBook or iPhone.
- Confirm the transfer on your Mac or iPhone. The file will be saved the same way as if it came from an iPhone—on the Mac, in the Downloads folder.
If your Apple device doesn’t show up in the list, check that your phone’s system is up to date, Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi are enabled, and that those ten minutes haven’t expired on the Mac yet.
It also works the other way—from a MacBook to your phone
You can send files too—from a Mac or iPhone to your phone. On Oppo, keep Quick Share enabled for receiving; on the Mac, click Share → AirDrop, and the phone will appear in the list just like any other Apple device. On the phone, you just need to accept the transfer. Your colleague’s iPhone photos will be in Oppo in a few seconds, without the quality loss you’d get when sending via Messenger or WhatsApp.
If you have an older Android without this support, Quick Share offers a backup via the QR code. The iPhone user scans it and downloads the file over the internet. According to the Google help, files are encrypted, the link is valid for 24 hours, and each day you can send up to 10 GB to Apple devices.
ColorOS is at the same level as iOS today
AirDrop is just the cherry on top for us. Oppo has one of the best-developed systems on ColorOS on Android, matching iOS in both design and smoothness. It offers a lot of design customizations—from the look of icons and the lock screen to animations—and on the Find X9 Pro it runs in Slovak without a single problem.
If you’re switching from iPhone, or you have an iPad and a MacBook at home, you don’t lose the convenience you’re used to with Oppo. What the new version brings, you’ll find in the article about ColorOS 17, and whether your phone will get it is shown in the list of supported devices.
Can you use AirDrop between Android and Apple devices?
Is it worth it?
Definitely yes if you have a Mac or an iPad at home—or friends with iPhones. You don’t have to send things via social media anymore, photos arrive in full quality, and the process is the same as between two iPhones. The only limitation is that support is mainly available for flagship phones for now, and on the Apple side you have to enable everyone’s visibility for ten minutes every time.
